Penn State DuBois and Symmco partner to fabricate alloy for electric vehicle use

Powder metallurgy (PM) is one of Pennsylvania’s top manufacturing sectors, with many PM companies specializing in iron-based parts for automotive applications, including electric vehicles (EV). Penn State DuBois and Symmco fabricated a lightweight copper-based alloy with high power density to help the PM industry keep pace with the acceleration of EV adoption.

LaunchBox unveils Idea Lab, prototyping program with advanced 3D printers

Local manufacturers, students and entrepreneurs now have an opportunity to produce prototypes and reengineered parts utilizing the advanced additive manufacturing equipment now located at Penn State DuBois. The state-of-the-art Makerspace and Idea Lab will be available to students, entrepreneurs and existing companies looking to expand their innovative environment starting this fall.

Interdisciplinary projects awarded seed grants from IEE

The Institutes of Energy and the Environment (IEE) has awarded seed grants to 22 groups of interdisciplinary researchers for the 2020-21 award cycle. This year, seed grants were awarded to proposals focusing on at least one of IEE’s five strategic research themes — Climate and Ecosystem Change, Health and the Environment, Integrated Energy Systems, Urban Systems, and Water and Biogeochemical Cycles.
